The monastery was founded in 1367 by the House of Rosenberg (also known as the Lords of Rosenberg), a prominent noble family. It served as a significant religious and cultural center for the region. The site is officially recognized as a national cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
The architectural complex showcases a transition from Gothic to Baroque styles. While the original structure dates back to the 14th century, the site features a well-preserved Gothic church and a cloister containing notable frescoes from the early 15th century.
