Established in 1908, this institution is dedicated to the life and literary legacy of the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. The museum is part of the Museum Odense organization and is housed within a listed building. The site includes several historical components, such as the author's birthplace and his childhood home.

A modern addition to the museum, known as the House of Fairytales, was designed by the architect Kengo Kuma. This contemporary space utilizes immersive storytelling and interactive exhibitions to explore the author's works. The museum grounds also feature a dome hall with artistic decorations and a dedicated garden.
