Sofia Zoo

Founded on May 1, 1888, this is the oldest and largest zoological garden in Southeastern Europe. It is designated as one of the 100 National Tourist Sites of Bulgaria and functions as a center for nature conservation and education.

The zoo covers an area of 36 hectares and houses a collection of over 2,150 animals representing approximately 237 different species. This population includes a diverse mix of exotic wildlife alongside species native to Bulgaria.

The animal inhabitants are categorized into groups including primates, predators such as large cats and bears, and various grazing species. There is also a significant and diverse collection of birds. The facility is open to the public for sightseeing and wildlife observation.
