Newborn Monument

Unveiled on February 17, 2008, this monument commemorates the declaration of independence. Designed by architect Fisnik Ismaili, the typographic sculpture stands three meters tall and consists of seven large metal letters spelling the word "NEWBORN". The structure serves as a symbolic representation of the birth of a new nation and is recognized as an iconic landmark.

Originally painted bright yellow, the letters are periodically repainted with different artistic designs to reflect current social and political themes, history, and an evolving national identity. Past iterations have featured the flags of states that recognized the country's independence. The repainting typically occurs annually on the anniversary of the independence declaration.

The monument gained international attention upon its unveiling, appearing on the front page of The New York Times. It remains a popular photo opportunity and a symbolic focal point for historical commemoration.
