Sofia University

Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" is the oldest and largest institution of higher education, established on October 1, 1888. Its central building, the Rectorate, is a recognized architectural symbol. The entrance is adorned with sculptures of the brothers Evlogi Georgiev and Hristo Georgiev, who were the primary donors for the institution's construction.

The university functions as a leading public research center and is comprised of 16 faculties. It is consistently recognized in international academic rankings, including the Shanghai Ranking. In addition to its academic role, the institution operates as an open-access publisher and maintains a significant presence in global scientific research.

The main edifice houses the Museum of Paleontology and Historical Geology. The building's historic architecture and its status as a primary center for higher learning make it a significant cultural and academic landmark.
