The Grasberg mine has the largest reserve of gold and the second-largest reserve of copper in the world. It is located in Mimika Regency, Papua, Indonesia near Puncak Jaya, the highest mountain in the country. It has 19,500 employees. It is operated by PT Freeport Indonesia, which used to be 90.64% owned by Freeport-McMoRan, including 9.36% owned through its wholly owned subsidiary, PT Indocopper Investama.
