Dobrovský & Chytil Grave

This shared grave is the final resting place of Josef Dobrovský, a renowned linguist and the founder of modern Slavic studies, and Josef Chytil, who served as an archivist for the Moravian Provincial Archives. The site is designated as a protected cultural monument and is marked by a neoclassical cast-iron obelisk monument.

Originally erected in 1829 at the Starobrněnský cemetery, the monument was moved to its current location in Group 32 (grave 1a–5a) in 1909. The burial site is part of a historical cemetery established on November 3, 1883.
