Founded in 1944, this institution is the highest library in the country and serves as a major cultural and research center. The current building, inaugurated in 1982, was designed by the Croatian architect Andrija Mutnjaković. It is a prominent example of brutalist architecture, characterized by a unique exterior covered in a steel grid or metal mesh. The structure is most notable for its roofline, which features 99 domes of varying sizes.
