Established in 1962, this extensive complex encompasses the remains of an ancient Greek and Roman city. The park preserves monuments dating from prehistoric times through the Middle Ages, with a primary focus on the Roman period. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980 for its outstanding mosaics and historical religious importance.
The site is renowned for its elaborate Roman villas, specifically the House of Dionysos, the House of Aion, the House of Theseus, and the House of Orpheus. These structures contain remarkably well-preserved mosaic floors depicting mythological scenes. Excavations have also revealed an agora, an asklipieion, a basilica, an odeion, and a Hellenistic-Roman theatre.
The complex includes a notable necropolis known as the Tombs of the Kings. The area remains an active site for archaeological excavation within the Nea Paphos section and is open to the public.
