Originally constructed as a noble residence between 1614 and 1620, this historic building was designed by architect Giovanni Giacomo Tencalla. It underwent a significant Baroque reconstruction during the 18th century and is recognized as a Cultural Heritage Site. Over the centuries, the palace has fulfilled various roles, including serving as a seat for royalty and courts.
The palace functions as the primary exhibition building for the Moravian Museum. The permanent and temporary displays cover a wide range of subjects, including paleontology, mineralogy, prehistory, and medieval history. Notable exhibitions include "Mýtus Velké Bohyně" and "ÚLUV nekončící příběh."
A significant highlight of the museum's collections is the Venus of Věstonice (Věstonická venuše), an ancient ceramic figurine estimated to be between 27,000 and 29,000 years old. The museum showcases this artifact alongside fragments and scientific research findings regarding its material composition and preservation history.
