Broumov Monastery

This Benedictine monastery is a significant national cultural monument characterized by its monumental Baroque style. The complex underwent a complete reconstruction between 1727 and 1735 under the direction of the renowned architect Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer, a prominent builder of the Bohemian Baroque era. It serves as a center for education, culture, and art, forming part of a notable group of Baroque churches in the surrounding region.

The historical interiors include the church of St. Vojtěch, an abbey gallery, and a refectory that houses a rare copy of the Turin Shroud. Outside, the complex features an extensive monastery garden. The site is open to the public, allowing for the exploration of its architectural and artistic heritage.

The monastery functions as a platform for various cultural events, including the Sympozium ilustrace, an annual event dedicated specifically to the field of illustration. This symposium provides a space for artists to engage with their craft within the historic setting of the monastery.
