Holy Cross Church

This Roman Catholic church is the oldest architectural monument in the area, with historical records dating back to 1288. Originally constructed in the Gothic style, the building underwent subsequent Renaissance and Baroque modifications. It is protected as a cultural heritage site and forms a significant historical complex alongside the neighboring Fryštát Castle.

The structure retains its medieval character while integrating architectural elements from later periods. Inside, the church houses a historic organ that plays a central role in its musical heritage.

Beyond its primary function as a place of worship, the building serves as a venue for classical music and cultural events. It regularly hosts the Karvinské varhany organ music festival and various orchestral concerts.
