Built in 1210 by Prince-Bishop Federico Vanga, this 34-meter-tall tower was constructed to control access to Doss-Trento as part of the medieval defense system. The structure reflects multiple architectural phases and utilizes various building materials, showcasing its development from the 12th century onwards. Throughout its history, the building has transitioned from a strategic military point to a prison.
The tower currently serves as a cultural venue and exhibition center. It hosts displays for the Museum of Modern Art of Trento and provides a temporary space for the National Historical Museum of the Alpine Troops. As a protected cultural heritage site, it remains a significant example of medieval fortification architecture.
