Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Serralves

Designed by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, the museum building opened in 1999 following its initial creation in 1989. The structure is known for its modern architecture and its integration with the surrounding landscape. A new wing, also designed by Siza Vieira, was added in 2023 and is linked to the main building via an elevated gallery.

The museum houses a significant permanent collection of contemporary art from the late 1960s to the present. As part of the Fundação de Serralves, it provides a multidisciplinary environment that includes the Casa de Serralves and the Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira. The interior features flexible exhibition spaces designed to facilitate a dialogue between contemporary art and the natural environment.

Located within the expansive Serralves Park, the institution is dedicated to art education and environmental awareness. The site includes a large park and gardens that are closely integrated with the museum's exhibition areas. The museum and its associated cultural facilities are open for public visits.
