Reykjavik Art Museum is the largest visual art institution in Iceland. It occupies three locations in Reykjavík; Hafnarhús by the old harbour, Kjarvalsstaðir by Klambratún and Ásmundarsafn in Laugardalur.
The Museum possesses the largest art collection in Iceland and the most voluminous gallery space to be found amongst the country's galleries. In more than 3000 square meters of gallery space over twenty exhibitions are run every year, ranging from extensive exhibitions from the museum's collection to installations of contemporary art by young, international artists.
The Museum offers a variety of events all year round where art is closely examined from different angles and with different emphasis.
The Museum is housed in three different buildings:
Hafnarhús: daily 10 am - 5 pm (8 pm on Thu)
Kjarvalsstaðir: daily 10 am - 5 pm
Ásmundarsafn: daily 10 am - 5 pm (Oct - Apr opens from 1 pm)
Closed: Jan 1, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Whitsunday, Jun 17, Dec 25 & 31 (Kjarvalsstaðir and Ásmundarsafn also Dec 24)
Adults: 1500 ISK
Students: 820 ISK
Children under 18, seniors (70+): free
The admission ticket is valid to all three Museums on the same day.
