Alto da Sé

The site is a historic square and scenic viewpoint characterized by colonial architecture and religious significance. The Catedral da Sé, founded in 1540, serves as the primary church for the local Archdiocese. This structure contains various historical artifacts and architectural details spanning several centuries and remains open for daily visits.

The Observatório Astronômico stands as a center for scientific study within the square. Originally constructed in 1890 for celestial observation, the building functioned as a meteorological station for a period before its 2004 reopening by Espaço Ciência. The facility now houses didactic exhibitions and facilitates guided observations using telescopes.

The Cruzeiro is a prominent restored monument located within the historic site. Its preservation was ensured through a restoration project funded by the local government and former students. The elevated position of the square provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
