Burning Mountain

This geological site features an underground coal fire within a seam that has been smouldering for an estimated 5,500 years. Once mistaken for an active volcano, the phenomenon is a rare and ancient natural condition.

Situated on a hill, the reserve provides scenic valley views. A walking trail is available for day walks, and the area serves as a location for birdwatching.

The site is open to the public for the observation of this unusual natural phenomenon and the surrounding landscape.
