Art Nouveau Centre

This museum and national competence center is dedicated to the Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) style. Established on January 1, 2003, the institution is open to the public and occupies two historic buildings: the 1907 Apotekergården (also known as the Swan Pharmacy or Svaneapoteket) and the 1906 Norges Bank building.

The site contains well-preserved Art Nouveau interiors alongside rotating contemporary art exhibitions. Multimedia and traditional displays provide insight into the city's architectural history, with a particular focus on the 1904 town fire and the rebuilding process that followed.

The museum functions as an interpretive center for both local history and international art movements. Collections include historical artifacts and art displays that illustrate the transition of regional design, complemented by various public programs.
