This U-shaped palace is a designated National Cultural Monument and a significant example of Baroque architecture. Historically associated with the Kounic family, the building's architectural development was led by architect Domenico Martinelli, with a recorded inception date of 1769. The interiors combine Baroque and Classicist elements, featuring a chapel and rooms decorated with frescoes and stucco work by Italian artists.
The site is a prominent landmark of the Napoleonic Wars, serving as the location where the armistice between France and Austria was signed in the ceremonial Historical Hall after the 1805 Battle of Austerlitz. A historic museum within the palace houses multimedia presentations about the battle and exhibitions detailing 18th-century aristocratic life.
The grounds include a 15-hectare garden restored to its original Baroque and French-style appearance. The palace is open to the public for guided tours and exhibitions. Additional facilities on the premises include a cafe and a restaurant, and the site is used for weddings and corporate events.
