Sunnmøre Museum

This open-air cultural history museum comprises 50 historical buildings that illustrate the architectural styles and lifestyles of the region from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century. The collection provides insight into the traditional farming society and regional cultural history. A key feature is the Medieval Museum, which displays archaeological artifacts excavated from the Borgundkaupangen site.

The site is also home to an extensive boat collection housed within a dedicated hall and outdoor areas. This collection includes traditional vessels, replicas of ancient boats, and the historic Shetland Bus boat Heland. Managed by the regional foundation Stiftinga Viti, the institution serves as a center for preserving maritime and rural heritage.
