Built in 1779 by Admiral Barrington, this military fortification served as a defensive position during the age of sail. The 18th-century ruins include a circular battery, a small magazine, and barracks, providing insight into colonial-era defensive architecture. The site is situated on a hill and is recognized as a national park.

The fort is open for exploration and is reached via a hiking path. It offers panoramic views of the harbor entrance and the coastline. While the site is a designated national monument, it is not actively managed.
