The environment features a network of ancient trails and scenic paths, including a route connecting the settlement of Yumani to historical sites. Panoramic views of the Cordillera Real and the Andes are visible across the surrounding waters.

The area contains over 80 historical ruins dating back to the Inca and Tiwanaku civilizations, with many structures originating in the 15th century. According to mythology, the island is the birthplace of the first Inca, Manco Cápac. Notable archaeological remains include the Sacred Rock, the Labyrinth, and the Sun Temple.

The island is accessible for exploration on foot, with various hiking opportunities across the rugged terrain. Some areas also allow for swimming in the lake. The site remains an inhabited location with a remote, slow-paced environment and a unique cultural experience.
