Furna do Enxofre

The site is an imposing volcanic cave characterized by a massive volcanic dome and a subterranean pond of cold water. Located within a caldera, the cavern is noted for its architectural-like vault and an active fumarole field.

A 183-step staircase facilitates descent into the interior. An associated Visitors Centre provides educational resources regarding local geological processes and the cave's formation.
