The complex was constructed between 1901 and 1930, designed by architects Lluís Domènech i Montaner and Pere Domènech i Roura, and is an outstanding example of Catalan modernism and Art Nouveau architecture. It was originally built as a hospital, featuring historic pavilions, sculptures, stained glass, mosaics, and gardens within a unified modernist design. Currently restored and open to the public as a museum and cultural center, it showcases its architectural and artistic heritage while preserving its historic function as a former hospital. The site is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is located in the El Baix Guinardó district.
