If you want to see a truly spectacular piece of nature, come visit this unique place. As the name already suggests, the Colorado River bend is shaped like a horseshoe. The viewpoint offers terrific sights and beautiful surroundings.
It was here where the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, the battle that ended the Creek War, was fought in 1814.
Don't worry about getting to the viewpoint if you're not in your best condition. Getting there from the road does not take long and it is suitable even for those who are not in the best shape. However, it is a popular place so be prepared for crowds of tourists there and consider visiting the spot early in the day.
Visitor Center hours: 9 am to 4:30 pm.
Closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day.
Free.
