Established in 1979, this open-air museum spans 20 hectares and recreates a typical village layout from around 1900. The site is arranged in a historic row-village style and contains over 80 original buildings, including farmsteads, craft workshops, and a functional watermill. Each structure was dismantled at its original site and reconstructed using original parts to preserve historical authenticity.
The collection highlights various regional architectural forms such as the Streckhof, Zwerchhof, and Doppelhakenhof. Specialized permanent exhibits include the Anabaptist Museum and a South Moravian farmstead, which offer a comprehensive look at rural life and cultural history. Traditional gardens are also maintained across the grounds to reflect historical agricultural practices.
The site is open to the public, with demonstrations of traditional rural crafts taking place on weekends. Historical exhibits throughout the buildings provide a detailed look into the daily routines and traditions of the local wine-growing region.
