The cathedral serves as the main place of worship for the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Designed by architect Predrag Ristić and completed in 2013, the building is recognized as the largest Orthodox church in the country. Its architectural style is a unique combination of Byzantine, Romanesque, and Italianate influences.
The structure features a dome reaching 35.5 meters in height, with the building's total height recorded at 41.5 meters. The interior is characterized by extensive decorations, including detailed frescoes, mosaics, and wood carvings. The cathedral also contains the crypt of the late Metropolitan Amfilohije Radović, who served as the head of the eparchy.
As a prominent religious landmark, the cathedral functions as a central hub for the local Orthodox community. The design reflects a blend of traditional Eastern Orthodox elements with distinct artistic choices.
