Situated at an elevation of 2,236 meters, this alpine pass connects the valleys of Val Boite and Val Cordevole. The landscape is characterized by steep gradients, alpine meadows, and 29 hairpin bends. It provides a road link between Cortina d’Ampezzo and Selva di Cadore.
The pass is surrounded by prominent peaks, including Nuvolau, Averau, Marmolada, Tofane, and Croda da Lago. Other visible formations include Ra Gusela and Cernera. These panoramic views of the surrounding landscape make the area a frequent subject for photography.
Renowned as a demanding stage in the Giro d’Italia cycling race, the pass is known for its challenging ascents. It is accessible by car and serves as a starting point for various mountain treks, featuring easy hiking trails that lead into the surrounding peaks.
