The National Museum of Military History is a state-run cultural and research institution under the Ministry of Defence. Founded in 1916, the institution preserves Bulgarian and European military heritage through a collection of more than one million cultural artifacts.
The museum is organized into indoor chronological-thematic expositions and a large outdoor area. The indoor galleries showcase items such as weapons, medals, uniforms, and art. The outdoor section contains a diverse array of heavy equipment, including artillery, armored vehicles, tanks, aircraft, missiles, and naval armaments.
Facilities include a specialized Children's Museum designed for younger audiences. The institution also hosts temporary exhibitions and provides access to a library, a computer center, and a virtual museum experience.
