Built in 1580, this fortress-like manor house is a significant example of vernacular architecture. It served as the seat of the Consell General, the parliament of Andorra, from 1702 to 2011. The building is considered a primary symbol of Andorran sovereignty and its image is featured on the nation's 1 euro coin.
The interior houses the cupboard of the seven keys, which contains important national documents. The site serves as a key landmark for understanding the unique co-principality system and the institutional history of the country.
The grounds feature the sculpture La dansa. The building is accessible to the public via guided tours that provide insight into the political and social history of the territory.
