A former theater in Dalí's hometown was rebuilt by him and since 1974 has been operating as his museum. It holds the most extensive collection of his works - there are about 1,500 pieces of art including sculptures, paintings, drawings, photographs, and much more. Dalí is buried in a crypt below the museum.
The building itself is as striking as the interior with its glass geodesic dome cupola and the huge eggs on the facade. The facade is also decorated with loaves of bread that resemble irregular flagstones. No wonder that the building is often referred to as "the world's largest surrealist object".
