A monumental square located in the centre of Finland's capital, dominated by the neoclassical building of Lutheran Cathedral. The square also connects the Cathedral with the University and Palace of the Council. Be sure to explore the architecture of these imposing buildings, all designed by a famous German architect, Carl Ludvig Engel.
Every day, something really unique happens at this square precisely at 5:49 pm. At this time, you can hear a sound installation called Sound of the Senate Square which plays carillon music, travelling from one building to another. The best position to listen to the Sound is near the statue of Alexander II.
