Maya Beach är vad som händer när alltför många turister kommer att njuta av paradiset. Efter Leonardo DiCaprio-filmen The Beach kom ut blev platsen upptagen och i juni 2018 bestämde regeringen sig för att stänga stranden på grund av förödande förluster på korallrevet och det marina livet i området. Ekosystemet behöver nu lite tid att återhämta sig och det är inte klart när stranden kommer att öppna igen.
