ป้อมปราการแห่งนี้ถูกสร้างขึ้นในศตวรรษที่ 13 โดยกษัตริย์เบลา IV ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของป้อมปราการขนาดใหญ่ในพื้นที่ เช่นเดียวกับป้อมอื่น ๆ มันมีจุดประสงค์เพื่อช่วยปกป้องดินแดนโดยรอบจากการรุกรานของชาวมองโกล
วันนี้ป้อมปราการถูกสร้างขึ้นใหม่บางส่วนและเปิดให้ผู้เยี่ยมชม
