Jičín Castle

The castle originated in the 16th century, with records indicating an inception date around 1600. Throughout its history, the structure underwent multiple reconstructions following several fires, resulting in a blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Neoclassical architectural styles.

A major transformation occurred in 1633 when the site was rebuilt as a sprawling early Baroque complex under the direction of Albrecht von Wallenstein. This expansion significantly shaped the current appearance of the site, which is characterized by a layout featuring three courtyards.

The building serves as a significant cultural landmark and houses the Regional Museum and Gallery, the Municipal Information Center, and the J. B. Foerster Art School. It is classified as a château and is a key component of the city's monument reserve.
