Founded in 1418 and operating until 1887, this cemetery is a prominent cultural heritage site. It covers an area of over 11,000 square meters and contains approximately 2,693 gravestones. The site is recognized as the second most significant Jewish cemetery in the country.
Historically associated with a community often referred to as "Jerusalem on the Elbe," the grounds represent a major element of the region's Jewish heritage. The cemetery is part of the town's heritage reservation and is protected as a Cultural Heritage Site.
