Opened on February 29, 1988, this institution features an architectural design donated by the Royal Dutch/Shell group. The collection preserves the traditional technical practices and cultural heritage of various ethnic groups, including the Murut, Dusun, Kedayan, and Penan.
Exhibits are organized into three primary galleries focusing on water village architecture, traditional handicrafts, and inland indigenous technologies. Detailed displays include life-size model houses, ancestral weaponry, and specialized tools used for boat building, metalworking, goldsmithing, and weaving.
