El Rosario Kilisesi

Completed in 1971, this modernist Catholic church is defined by its unique aircraft hangar-like architectural design. Designed by the architect Rubén Martínez, the structure reached completion after work began in 1964. The building stands 22 meters high and is recognized for its radically beautiful interior architecture, which utilizes concrete and stained-glass elements to create a distinct atmosphere.

The site holds deep historical importance as the final resting place of José Matías Delgado, a priest and key leader in the Salvadoran independence movement. While the current modernist structure dates to the 20th century, the site has a longer religious history; Delgado personally funded and designed a previous reconstruction of the temple in the early 19th century, with work initiated as early as 1802.

The church is a designated Cultural Heritage Site and is open to the public. The interior appearance is notably affected by the natural light, with the most recommended times for viewing the architecture being during sunrise or sunset.
