Established in 1957, this Catholic cathedral serves as the seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese. A memorial calvary on the grounds commemorates the first cross planted in the region by Spanish explorers in 1565.

The building functions as an active place of worship where mass is held regularly. In April 2026, the site was visited by United States Deputy Assistant Secretary Matt Murray.
