Originally founded in the late 13th century, this Gothic sacral building underwent a major transformation between 1360 and 1378. The expansion was commissioned by the Emperor Charles IV and designed by his court architect, Peter Parler. The site is recognized as a National Cultural Monument.
The architecture is characterized by a high presbytery designed in the rayonnant style. Notable internal features include a unique Sakramentshaus (sacrament house) crafted by Peter Parler. The exterior is distinguished by a tall bell tower and an astronomical clock.
The interior preserves a significant collection of religious art. As a historic parish church, the building has maintained a long-standing connection to Czech royalty throughout its history.
