Built in 1897, the Union House served as a meeting place and cultural center for Czech workers of the Cejl factory district. It was a centre of the Social Democratic movement, where the labor leader Josef Hybeš delivered lectures. The building played a central role in labor history as a headquarters for organizing around the 1899 textile workers' strike.
The property originally included an inn and a garden. In later decades, it functioned as a venue for dance and entertainment, housing various clubs during the 1990s. The building is currently in a poor and neglected condition.
