The basilica was founded in 920 by Vratislaus I of Bohemia. It is, in fact, the second oldest church in Prague and belongs to the best preserved Romanesque sights in the country. Interestingly, it is home to tombs of many members of the royal Premyslid dynasty.
From 1975, it is a part of the National Gallery and it has housed many fine examples of Bohemian Art from the 19th century. It is now used as a short-term exhibition space and a concert hall.
Located right next to Saint Vitus Cathedral, it is only a short walk from Lesser Town.
