The castle dates back to the early 14th century and stands as one of the largest fortress complexes in Central Europe. It is situated on a wooded hill and comprises extensive defensive walls, towers, and multiple courtyards. Known for its ongoing conservation and reconstruction efforts, the site presents significant medieval architecture and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Managed by the Comenius Museum in Přerov, the castle functions as a cultural heritage site and hosts various cultural events, including the notable annual blacksmith workshop known as Hefaiston. The ruins are also associated with art symposiums and craftsmanship exhibitions that highlight traditional skills.
