The Portuguese navy is famous all over the world and this museum provides its visitors with a thorough insight into it. The Museum is located in the historical Jerónimos Monastery.

Even though the museum itself was opened in 1963, its collection dates back to as early as 1863. This was the year when King Luís I of Portugal, as a renowned navigator himself, started to collect various items and artifacts connected to the history and development of Portuguese maritime.

The exhibition includes various models of ships that will let you explore the evolution of the Portuguese navy, as well as many items associated with navigating.

The nearest bus stations are Centro Cultural de Belém (lines 15E and 729) and Belém-Jerónimos (lines 15E, 714, 728, 729 and 751).
