Completed in 1898 and designed by architect Willem Molenbroek, this structure is a notable example of Art Nouveau and eclectic architecture. Construction began in 1897, with the building specifically intended for use as an office complex.
At the time of its completion, it was recognized as the first skyscraper in Europe. Reaching a height of 10 stories, the building serves as a pioneering example of high-rise construction on the continent.
It is one of the few structures to survive the 1940 bombing campaigns during World War II. Due to its historical and architectural significance, it is registered as a Rijksmonument, a national heritage site.
