法蘭士·約瑟夫冰川

The 12-kilometre-long temperate maritime glacier is known for its rapid flow and cyclic advances and retreats. This natural landmark occupies a unique geological position and is a significant site for observing glaciology.

Access to the viewpoint is via a 5.4km walking track that traverses a rocky riverbed. This short trail provides a route to observe the terminal face from a designated safe distance. The path leads through the glacier valley, allowing for an observation of the alpine landscape.

The area is a hazardous environment, and the terminal face is currently inaccessible due to safety concerns. While the viewpoint is open to the public, access is restricted to designated points. Guided tours are also available for exploration of the valley.
