Expressway S61

Expressway S61 or express road S61 is a Polish highway which is going to run from the Polish-Lithuanian border near Budzisko to Ostrów Mazowiecka.

As of July 2023, 151 km of the route are open to traffic, while the remaining 63 km are under construction. The part opened to traffic consists of three separate sections: from Śniadowo to south of Łomża, from north of Łomża to south of Ełk, and from north of Ełk to the Lithuanian border near Budzisko.

The contracts for designing and building the expressway signed in 2017 and 2018 assumed the completion of the whole road by the end of 2021, but parts of it got significantly delayed. The bypass of Ełk is planned to be opened in August 2023, followed by the section from express road S8 to Śniadowo intended for opening in October 2023.
