Kokořín Castle

The castle dates back to the 13th century and is located in a protected landscape area characterized by sandstone hills, lakes, and forests. It was heavily damaged during the Hussite Wars and later reconstructed in the early 20th century in a romantic Gothic Revival style by architect Eduard Sochor. Originally a medieval fortress and refuge for bandits, it inspired writers and artists following its rediscovery in the 19th century.
