This memorial bust was unveiled in 1962 to honor Václav Skalník, a prominent Czech landscape architect, botanist, and former mayor of Mariánské Lázně. Skalník played a key role in the town's development by transforming the area through the draining of moors and the filling of ravines to create English-style parks. The monument commemorates his design of the local park system, which currently contains over 150 species of trees and shrubs. The memorial is located outdoors and is accessible to the public.
