Caldeira Velha

This biosphere reserve is characterized by its lush Laurisilva forest and diverse tree ferns. The site features a unique volcanic landscape shaped by geothermal activity, including natural pools of thermal water heated by volcanic energy.

A prominent feature is a waterfall of warm, iron-rich water that feeds into natural bathing pools. These thermal springs are known for their medicinal properties. The environment is defined by dense, green vegetation and the presence of natural hot water sources.

Established in 2004, the area is dedicated to preserving its ecological and geological significance. The park is open for sightseeing and bathing in the thermal springs.
